The weather is cooler and the leaves are starting to change, which means the autumn season is here! There are dozens of simple and cost effective ways to decorate your home both inside and out, and best of all don’t require a whole lot of time to put together. By using a few of the following décor tips, your home will start to feel festive in no time.
1. Purchase some mums to give your porch some color.
While the days of gardening are now mostly behind us, adding some mums to your front porch area is an easy way to give it a festive look. They are the perfect fall flower, and you can even re-plant them into rustic looking planters to really complete the look.
2. Visit your local craft store to create a centerpiece.
By using items like a candle tray, faux pumpkins and fabric leaves, you can easily throw together a beautiful centerpiece for your dining room table. Mix in some pine cones and faux vegetables like gourds or squash to have some variety.
3. Use pumpkins to symbolize the autumn season.
It goes without saying that pumpkins can be found in all forms, scents, and flavors in the fall. Adding a few of various sizes around your front door brings a festive look to your home. You can also preserve the life of your pumpkins by applying solutions like white vinegar or floor cleaner so they can last the entire season.
4. Use pumpkins to symbolize the autumn season.
Spray paint some empty wine bottles using colors such as burnt orange and shades of brown or red. Place fabric leaves underneath the bottles and arrange a few together for a nice décor piece you can use in the living room or dining room.
5. Dress up your front steps with lanterns.
Purchase some empty lanterns of different sizes from a local craft store, and fill with faux pumpkins or some candles. This gives the entrance of your home a cozy and welcoming feel, and requires very little assembly.
